Objective
The John Terry Foundation, set up in 2024 by former England and Chelsea captain John Terry, raises money to support the wellbeing of children and adults, with a focus on giving everyone the chance to thrive free from poverty, poor health, and exclusion.
The project reached us through a referral from LSVP Studio, their video production company, after we’d recently built their website. The Foundation was in a difficult spot: their previous web designer had disappeared partway through the job and left them with an unfinished site. We came in to take it over, delivering a full redesign and build against a tight deadline.
Solution
This was one of our first projects for a non-profit, so we spent real time researching the sector before starting. Accessibility is something we build into every site as standard, but here it needed to sit right at the front of every decision rather than run quietly in the background.
We wanted the design to carry the meaning behind the Foundation. That came through in bold typographic statements, infographic-led sections that made the message easy to take in, and a clear push towards donating.
The build also needed room for the team to tell their own story. We created a space where they could publish updates on recent grants, so supporters can see exactly where their money goes, along with a news section for events, stories, and announcements the Foundation can manage themselves.
The Foundation already had a rough brand, but there were gaps to fill. We added two new colours chosen with calls to action in mind and brought in Lexend as the typeface for its strong readability and warm, approachable feel. Since the Foundation will be out at events where branding matters, we also built a brand guidelines page covering all of this, plus a downloadable logo media pack in both print and digital formats.
Result
The John Terry Foundation now has a finished, accessible website that reflects what they stand for and gives them the tools to run it themselves. Supporters can donate easily and see the difference their money makes, the team can share updates without needing us, and the brand is set up to travel wherever the Foundation goes next.
